This is personal and for everyone — all at the same time.
A new exhibit at the Morono Kiang Gallery will offer a look at the recent history of Iran through the prism of personal perspectives as they relate to a backdrop "divergent cultural experiences and collective histories."
The aim, according to the artists, is to "capture more than moments in time" in a bid to "bear witness to change and inspire new interpretations of the past."
The exhibit is titled "Traces of Being: Iran in the Passage of Memories," and features new mixed media and installation-based works by Pantea Karimi, Hushidar Mortezaie, Amitis Motevalli, and Fereshteh Toosi.
The exhibit isn't limited to their works, though, because visitors are welcome to add their own "ephemera" to the mix, including any "such as written accounts, objects, or images, to add to our interactive time line of Iran's contemporary history from 1979 to 2009."
The scheduled to remain on display until November 21 at the Morono Kiang Gallery, located at 218 W. 3rd Street. Call (213) 628-8208 for more information.
