Count one-time singing sensation Ricky Martin as one of the guests of honor at Sonia Sotomayor's swearing-in ceremony on September 8, when she became the first-ever Latino on the U.S. Supreme Court.
The Puerto Rican singer occupied one of the seats in the first row, near President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. He also shared the row with other big names from U.S. politics, as well as members of Sotomayor's family.
In a press release, the man who made a hit of "La Vida Loca," said he was very proud that a female compatriot has taken a seat on Supreme Court.
"It is a privilege to be a witness of this grandiose moment, and to have been invited by the protagonist," Martin said. "Judge Sotomayor is a woman who is full of light, and instills pride in our culture."
Martin, who recently became a single father of twins, added that he greatly appreciated the invitation to the event that marks an important date in the history of the country.
"What an honor!" Martin said.
